Solihull Moors suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, losing 5-0 to Worthing in a result that deepens their relegation fight. Manager Chris Millington admitted a recurring mentality problem is becoming a theme for his struggling side, who remain 23rd in the National League with just seven points from 13 games.

Worthing took control with three goals in 11 first-half minutes. Cory Adjetey-Brew opened the scoring in the 29th minute, with Razzaq Coleman De-Graft and Ricky Aguiar adding further goals before the break, all assisted by Jordan Young. Adjetey-Brew added a fourth after 70 minutes before Dom Hutchinson completed the rout in stoppage time.

Millington's frustration

Chris Millington did not hold back in his assessment. "I’m frustrated, angry and disappointed," the manager said. He pinpointed a soft goal conceded after a promising first 25 minutes as the turning point. "I’m really disappointed for the fans and haven’t got the fight they deserved," Millington added, acknowledging the team's struggle to convert performances into results.

The defeat was Moors' second consecutive loss without scoring and leaves them five points from safety. They face a key FA Cup tie against Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough this Saturday before returning to league action. Their next National League fixture is at home to 14th-placed Carlisle on 24 October, a vital match in their battle to climb the standings.

Worthing manager Adam Hinshelwood said his side's 5-0 win over Solihull Moors had been coming. "Even with performances since the start of the season, a result like this has been on the cards," Hinshelwood said. The defeat was Moors' tenth in 13 league games, leaving them 23rd with seven points. They had beaten Everton U21s 1-0 in a cup tie three days prior, with an own goal from F. Barnsley securing the win.
