Solihull Moors' National League survival hopes took another hit with a 2-1 home defeat to Carlisle United on Saturday. The loss extends their winless run to five league games and leaves them stuck in 23rd place with only seven points from 13 matches, a record of just two wins and a draw all season.

Ben Wodskou gave the Moors a lead just before halftime, smashing a strike past visiting keeper Lukas Jensen from a narrow angle after a Marvin Johnson free-kick was cleared. The hosts could not hold on, however. Carlisle equalised in the 69th minute when Miguel Azeez's blocked shot fell to Morgan Feeney, who fired home. The turnaround was complete eight minutes later as substitute David Ajiboye converted Leo Duru's cross.

Rob Elliot, the Carlisle manager, summarised the shift. "Ben Wodskou had opened the scoring for the hosts, but United responded through Morgan Feeney and David Ajiboye's second-half strikes to claim the three points," he said.

Solihull made three second-half changes, introducing Rutherford, Sbarra, and Kachunga, but could not find an equaliser. Wakeling was booked for the hosts in the 51st minute. The result leaves Solihull Moors with a daunting 28-point gap to league leaders Boreham Wood and a goal difference of minus 22 after conceding 35 times and scoring only 13 this season.

Their recent form shows two wins and three losses from the last five, with consecutive defeats against Kidderminster Harriers and now Carlisle. This follows a 2-1 loss at Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday 17 October, though they did beat Everton U21 1-0 on Tuesday 13 October. Attention turns immediately to a key trip to face 19th-placed Wealdstone on Tuesday 27 October, a key fixture against a side just four places above them in the table.
