Sam Johnson has joined Solihull Moors on loan from FC Halifax Town until January. The experienced goalkeeper and Halifax club captain is expected to go straight into the squad for tomorrow's home match against Carlisle, who are currently 14th in the table.

Johnson, who last played for a club other than Halifax a decade ago during a loan at Gateshead, brings a wealth of experience to a Moors side sitting 23rd in the National League. Solihull have just seven points from 13 games, with a record of two wins, one draw and ten defeats, and are 28 points adrift of the leaders Boreham Wood. They have scored 13 goals but conceded 35 this season. Their recent form reads two wins and three defeats from their last five, including a 2-1 loss at Kidderminster Harriers last Friday. That defeat was part of a sequence of recent results that also includes a 1-0 win over Everton U21, a 5-0 loss at Worthing, a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United U21, a 2-0 home defeat to FC Halifax Town, and a 4-2 win at Woking.

The 32-year-old has been limited to National League Cup appearances for Town this season but has two FA Trophy wins and a promotion on his CV from his long spell at The Shay. At Damson Park, he will link up with former Halifax manager Chris Millington and a host of ex-team-mates including Scott High, Jevon Mills and Tyrell Warren.

Johnson is out of contract next summer. The loan deal is set to conclude in the New Year.
