Solihull Moors chairman Darryl Eales has apologized to supporters after The Arthur Cup match against Birmingham City was postponed. The match was due to take place at The ARMCO Arena on Wednesday evening, but the pitch failed a pre-match inspection. Birmingham City were concerned about the safety of their players, still bearing the scars of their game at Reading in February where Scott Wright suffered a serious knee injury and Lyndon Dykes picked up a calf injury. The warm weather has damaged Moors' pitch, and the club's groundstaff have been working tirelessly to get it ready. However, the pitch is probably a week behind where it should be, due to a delay in the annual maintenance of the irrigation system. Craig Gardner and Stephen Ward agreed that there were areas of concern, and it would be foolhardy to risk injuries at this stage of pre-season. The Moors are now working with Birmingham City to find a new date for The Arthur Cup match. The event is a fantastic occasion, and the club wants to ensure it goes ahead as planned. The Arthur Cup is a match in memory of Bluenose Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, who tragically died in 2020, aged six. Solihull Moors are grateful for Birmingham City's efforts to work with them to try and ensure the match could be played. The club is disappointed that the postponement has happened at such short notice, causing disruption and disappointment to all supporters attending the game. The Moors will continue to work on getting the pitch ready for their next match. The club's staff have been amazing in their efforts, but sadly, nature has beaten them. The new date for The Arthur Cup match will be announced soon, and the club hopes that the event will be a wonderful occasion.
